I got an awesome new Canon DSLR last week, and I couldn't wait to try it out on my favorite subject.

Love it.  And him.

Fun Friday Facts

1.  Mason's new source of entertainment is repeating everything I say.  This is funny for approximately two minutes or until I'm legitimately trying to get him to answer a question, whatever comes first.

2.  Mason LOVES Penny Lane.  Unconditionally.  Even when that cat hides around the corner and attacks his ankles until he screams, he loves her.

3.  HIs stuffed bunny is named Flufer (flew-fur) and his stuffed cat is named Friendly.

4.  He was relentless about what he wanted to be for Halloween.  This is the first year he's had an opinion about it and he quickly shut down my idea of us being dippy eggs and bacon.

5.  Mase can READ!  He reads beginner books completely by himself and he can read longer books with a little help.  So proud of him on that one.

6.  He likes to wear his jammies all day – just like his mom.

7.  He wants to help with everything all the time.  Vacuuming, cooking, sweeping, sorting laundry, etc.  Now why can't I get him to clean up his own toys?

8.  Somehow, he's learned the words to "Red Solo Cup".  I'm blaming my dad.

9.  Mase can count over 100.  And does so every time we get in the car.  Multiple times.

10.  He makes me smile everysingleday, all day.  Except maybe at 6 in the morning.  Well, sometimes even then.

Too Much Cute for Just One Picture

Mase was in Megan's wedding a couple weekends ago.  I'm sure I will have plenty more pictures where this came from, but this was just has to be posted right now.

Ahhh!  I cried when he walked down the aisle because he just looks so darn grown up.  How the heck does time go so fast?!

Hug Lovely :(

Ugh.  This post breaks my heart.

On October 1st, little Hug Lovely the hamster died.  Her cage was on top of the refrigerator to keep Penny away from her and, well, Penny learned how to get on top of the fridge.  The cage fell.  Hugs died on impact.  I cried like a baby.

Ugh.  I was so upset thinking about Mason and how he would feel.  He was upset too, but much less so than I was.  Having my four-year-old experience death was not on my list of things I wanted to do.

He still talks about her sometimes.  I still get choked up when I think about it.

Hug Lovely is definitely missed.

Fall

We've had such a pretty fall this year.  It's the end of October and today it was close to 80 degrees and beautiful.

I'm sure now that I've said that it will snow tomorrow.  Ahh.  Mase and I will just enjoy it while it lasts.

Writer

I'd never push anything on my kid, but sometimes I can't help but hope he grows up to love reading and writing like his mama.  He does now, for sure.  And his writing and reading is already awesome for his age.  Check out this cleaning list.

I helped him with the spelling a little, but he can spell almost any three or four letter word.  It's crazy, really.  We'll be driving down the road and he'll be reading road signs or signs on store.  Proudest mom ever.

It's a...

No, I'm not pregnant.

But Mason picked out this "It's a boy" balloon at the grocery store.  I don't know why (I suppose it's the hair) but he gets called a girl every once in awhile.  And maybe he's sick of it.  In any case, this balloon lasted about an hour, until I opened the car door and the darn thing blew away.

And I told him he better make sure he held onto it tight.  Oops.

Aquarium (Part 1)

For some reason, my camera pictures skip from the end of August to the end of September.  I'm going to have to do some phone pictures here soon, if I want to catch up.  But anyway, we went to the Baltimore Aquarium last weekend.  Mason couldn't wait to see the sharks, the octopus and seahorses were my favorite, and neither of us were disappointed with the dolphin show.  So much fun.

I know there are more pictures from this day on my phone.  Jellyfish and Mason love coming soon.  :)

Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy is Penny Lane the cat and she felt so horrible about Mason's fall (and the resulting tooth-pulling) that instead of money, she left a whole pack of matchbox cars under his pillow!

Mason was thrilled and I now am completely okay with his missing teeth.  He doesn't mind.. and they're pretty cute!

Beach 5: Tragedy Strikes

Our last day at the beach.   Everything was wonderful.

And then he wanted to play on the big wooden pirate ship.

Immediately after that picture was taken, Mason's hands slipped off the bar and he fell flat on his face.  He screamed, I dropped the camera and ran to him.  What I found when he opened his mouth was a ton of blood.  And two teeth so loose, they had to be pulled the next morning.

Ugh.  I was devastated.  Mason... well, he couldn't have cared less.  As I cried in the dentist's office the following morning (so hard other moms were bringing me tissues and rubbing my back) Mase was a little trouper.  I'm just thankful they were the bottom teeth.  And hey, they'll grow back in a couple of years, right?
