Mase and I are listening to The Beatles in the car the other day and have the following conversation:
Mase: My friend Curtis says beetles are just BUGS.
Me: Oh yeah?
Mase: Yeah. [weary, frustrated sigh] He just doesn't know, Mom.

Earth Day Hippies
Yesterday was Earth Day, and Mason and I decided we'd help our favorite planet by starting our own vegetable garden.
We planted 75 plants. I'm hoping at least five of them grow. I have no idea where we're going to transfer them when they outgrow their little plant homes, but I'm really REALLY hoping we grow at least one thing that's edible so Mason isn't disappointed.
Mason was thrilled that pea seeds look like actual peas. If you want to know the truth, I was pretty amazed by that fact, too.
I am still finding dirt and plant food and tomato seeds all over the place but we had SO much fun.
Crazy Weather We're Havin'
Less than a week ago, Mase and I were having a picnic in the yard, wearing shorts and swimsuits, and eating goldfish shaped sandwiches in the sunshine.
This morning, we woke up to this lovely mess:
We did get a snow day out of the deal, but still. Talk about disappointing.

Spring Ducks
Mase and I had a wonderful Saturday. We started with lunch, then headed to the duck park.
Mason's favorite part (okay, and mine) is when the ducks put their heads under water so that their butt sticks up in the air. I laugh every time.
We went to the toy store too, where Mason played for awhile and ended up with three new puzzles, and Goodwill, where I got TEN books for $12.61! Absolutely could not have asked for a better day.
Megan Does Dallas
Last week, Mason went to his dad's, and I went to Texas.
1200 miles away for 5 entire days. Mase, apparently, had a great Easter.
I talked to him every day, but my god, it was hard not being with him. I was distracted the majority of the time, really busy and having fun, but being Mason-less was just... weird. You know that feeling when you walk out of the house and you just know you're forgetting something really important? Yeah, I had a feeling like that all week. Don't get me wrong, Dallas was fantastic. Full of sun and bands and art - three of my favorite things. I could live there, for sure.
Coming back to freakish April snow flurries in PA after spending five days in 80 degree weather was not cool. But coming back to Mason was.

Ball
He got to pick one toy at Target and my kid picks a huge purple ball. Perfect. So much better than some noisy toy with a million pieces. I would have chosen the same thing.
And he picks me flowers. What a kid.

Morning Shower
Sun shining, birds chirping, and the first thing I hear when I wake up this morning is, "Mommy! I peed on the wall!"
Ahh.
Ahh.

More March Fun
March turned out to be an amazing month this year, weather-wise. I can't believe it's over already. Time to catch up on some pictures, considering it's April 1st. Oops.
I may not have blogged much, but we spent a ton of time outside (TONS), I finished Infinite Jest (whoooolllle other post, I could go on for ages), and even managed to do a little school work (okay, probably not as much as I should have).
Not a second was wasted though.
