Catching up on Spring

It's easy to get a little down in Central Pennsylvania in the wintertime. For me it is, at least. I sulk around every winter, not wanting to leave the house. Eventually though, the sun comes out and all is right with the world. The sun, plus two jobs and a crazy three-year-old, are the reasons for me getting so behind on my blogging. I have about a thousand new pictures. It's nap time now, so I figured that instead of crashing on the couch or folding the laundry, I'd see how far I could get on catching up on the blog.

These are a couple weeks old. The sun was out, so Mason and I headed out to Cold Stream. We got Sheetz for dinner and ate it in the park.

Unfortunately, things were still a little... damp.

But yeah, it's way too easy to forget how amazing the sunshine and warm weather make you feel.

It's also easy to forget how pretty the world is when it's been covered with snow and ice for six months.

Better than Diapers

This:

happens all day long now. It started with a little bribery - ice cream for peeing on the potty. Now, he only pees in his diaper when he's sleeping (which is cutting my diaper costs in half) and doesn't require bribes anymore. Plus, he loves sitting there, so if I need a little alone time, I give the kid a book and ask him if he has to pee. Five minutes of instant quiet. Ahh. Indoor plumbing has got to be one of the world's best inventions.

Who Could Resist?

Every time I take Mase to the park I play too. I might be the only mom on the slides but I hope I never feel too old or too tired or too busy to have fun with my kid. And apparently I'm not the only one. :)

Nice to see ya again, spring.

Under Where?

It was gorgeous and almost 70 degrees out today so I took Mason to the duck park. We were both wearing t-shirts, but it was breezy and after a little while he said he was getting cold. I had one of his windbreakers in my purse, so I pulled it out and put it on him and he went back on the playground stuff again and I guess I wasn't really paying much attention.

But then I noticed the other moms looking at him funny. And then I could have sworn they were looking at me funny. I was trying to convince myself that I was being paranoid
when all of a sudden I see one of the moms smile and point right at Mason and at the exact same moment, I catch a glimpse of his back. There's this little patch of Velcro on the back of his windbreaker because the hood is removable. Dangling off this Velcro was my underwear. And these weren't just any old underwear. They were tiny black skimpy things that no one hanging out at the duck park on a Monday afternoon has any business wearing.

The worst part though, was that after realizing that's what everyone was looking at, I had to casually wait for Mason to come down the slide and then real nonchalantly drop them into my purse like everyone's toddler was wearing thongs on his back.

Why couldn't it have just been a sock?

Soccer - Take 2

Soccer practice number two went waaaayy better than it did the first time. As soon as we got there, Mase ran over to the rest of the kids without even looking back at me.

He might be the littlest kid there but he tries so hard the whole time and doesn't ever look like he's frustrated at all. Afterwards, all he talks about is how he played soccer with the other kids so I think the next six weeks of Soccer Thursdays are going to be a success.

Soccer Warm-ups

Mason had his first soccer practice last Thursday. I should have a ton of pictures but I don't - that's because pictures of Mason clinging to my leg, while they may entertaining, aren't particularly monumental. Practice is about forty-five minutes long. These were taken in the last ten minutes, when he finally decided he trusted the other kids enough to at least run along behind them.

Mase is the youngest of these kids. There are a few three-year-olds and the oldest is seven. Soccer might not have been the best choice for him at this point, but I think he'll do alright once he gets to know them a little bit. I bet this Thursday will be much better. Maybe I'll even get some pictures.

Me Time

While Mason spent a fun weekend with Daddy, I spent the weekend having some fun of my own with this handsome guy:

Rock climbing, hot tub, dinner, movies... it was as good as vacation. Hey, even the best moms need a little time to themselves every once in awhile.

Hope You're Hungry

On Saturday morning I woke up approximately 18 minutes before I had to be at work so I poured Mason a bowl of cereal and tried to make myself look presentable. Mase must have sensed the urgency in my makeup application because instead of asking me for help, he decided to get a second bowl himself.

I came out of the bedroom to find him picking up Cheerios one by one and either eating them or throwing them back in the box. Oy.
